It's been a busy period for The Dog House. Yes...it's now December, which means we are trying to sort out the Christmas present list, informing Santa (making sure he knows where he's supposed to be delivering presents!) and also attending some local events. These events were primarily to help promote the business, by making people aware what we do, who and where we are. But also, selling some goodies for kids and dogs alike!
Local events we attended:
- Friday 10th November (5-7pm) - The Corsham School Winter Fair
We were using this event as a trial run, as we had no experience of being a part of a fair of any kind before.
It was good to have know we could fit everything in the car, set up/down the table and get to see what else was being offered at the winter fair (everything from Christmas wreaths to jams and preserves).
It was a good to see teachers and pupils from the school, along with their families come along to support the event.
- Saturday 18th November (11am-2pm) - North Bradley Peace Memorial Hall Christmas Market
This event was great, as it was held in our village hall. It allowed some of our existing customers to say hello, but also introduce ourselves to more locals! We did have some people say that they had received our leaflet through their doors, which is positive to know they making the connection, but also to put a person to the business.
There was also soup, rolls and cake to buy throughout the morning, so the hall smelled amazing. This event had a great community feel to it!
- Sunday 26th November (11-4) - Hope Nature Centre (Southwick) Christmas Market
We had the advantage of being inside for the previous two events, where this one was outside....it was pretty cold, but thankfully it was dry! Both the tea rooms and animal park were open, so everyone was able to have a good day out and were also able to pick up some presents/stocking fillers. There was a good flow of people throughout the day.
- Saturday 2nd December (11-4) - Westbury Christmas Street Fayre
This was the last Christmas event on our calendar for this year. We felt that we have had a good run over the past few weeks with the various events we have been involved with. This fayre was also outside, but luckily not as cold as the week before!
This event would also be the biggest event out of the four fairs we have done and def a very slick operation, due to the number of stalls involved and some of the streets in Westbury being closed off for the event (given set up/down times and restricted vehicle access for unloading/loading).
We made some more connections at this event, which I'm thankful for! There was a constant flow of people throughout the day, which was nice. At a few times during the day, there was various acts going up and down the street in front of the stall, gathering crowds of people taking pictures!
recommend doing any events you feel comfortable doing, but we would recommend Westbury Christmas Fayre if you get the chance, as it was greatly run and the atmosphere was absolutely great!
